Russians can sign-up to receive text message updates relating to their country’s upcoming Presidential Election. Neat. I’d like to see this sort of service made available in a lot more countries. I’d like to know the news ‘now’ — that is — immediately it’s available from the various electoral authorities, and not have to wait for the intermediary talking heads on television to get round to reporting it.

The information on the ballot and presidential election results in Russia will be available through SMS by sending request to number 5503, RBC reports.
‘Beginning from 9 p.m. Moscow time March 2nd, preliminary information regarding the number of votes collected by each candidate will be available. One can receive such information sending request to number 5503, which is common for all operators’, - the press service of the RF Central Election Commission reports.
To learn the voting results at a certain polling station of a certain region, one has to clarify his SMS request. For example, to find out the voting results in the Republic of Karelia 201 polling station, it is necessary to indicate 10 201 in your SMS, where the first two figures reflect the number of the Russian federal subject, while the numbers after the gap correspond to the number of the polling station.
Surely with the Russian elections they’d be able to send you the results before the election takes place!!
