Pay per day mobile broadband from T-Mobile

I go on about T-Mobile UK a lot. I recognise this.

So here’s some good news for a change.

I walked into the T-Mobile shop on Oxford Street for a look around. They had an internet cafe (6 laptops, secured to the table with mobile broadband cards) but alas nobody using them. I reckon they should move the internet cafe to the front of the store a la Apple shops.

Anyway I spotted this:

£4 per day for unlimited mobile broadband. All you do is buy the £99 USB modem from them on a pay as you go basis. I like that.

  • Wish they had pay-as-you-go-broadband here in the states on T-Mobile, or AT&T for that matter. Well they kind of do, but it's a rip-off.
  • That's one thing the American market is crying out for. A lot of the people I speak to at the operators tell me there 'isn't any demand for it' and I think, alas, they're looking at the American market when they say this. I then ask them how many business people arrive into the US every day... that's a big customer base...
  • That is the real market: international roamers. Make it dirt simple for them. In fact, my proposal: pre-paid SIM kiosks outside of every International arrival point. Buy a SIM with some minutes, get data service and the whole 9 yards.
  • That's the way ahead!
  • Sounds like MaxRoam, once they get data packages. And I can't agree with you more, the international roamers are a cash cow.

3UK offer a similar PAYG mobile broadband service. At the time of writing, the dongle is £69.99 and you pay £10 for 1GB, £15 for 3GB or £25 for 7GB (all valid for 30 days). The service is exactly the same price offered to contract customers, however you have the advantage of not running up huge bills should it be used a lot!

I think its much better value than the offering from T-Mobile...
