I bumped into the chaps from Kentrox this evening. They provide a whole range of cellular site monitoring and management tools for mobile operators. Right away, I thought back to the UK — and me, walking down Oxford Street yapping away on my T-Mobile handset and getting cut off every five minutes. Kentrox work with the mobile operator to deliver them a dashboard to monitor their entire network — AND tell them what’s going on — and what problems are happening. They also help optimise the fixing of issues. They’ve shown a 50% reduction in the cost of truck rolls (i.e. folk going out to fix broken sites) — which is also the biggest line item expense for most operators.

So T-Mobile, please can you go and buy this so I can get a decent signal in London?
