This is an interesting offer, this one.

So, when you visit America, it’s rather difficult to get your own data card from the incumbent operators. 2 year contracts and stupid amounts of money.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could borrow someone else’s?

Yeah. That’s RovAir!

They’ll send you a data card on either Verizon or Sprint (both offer brilliant data service) to work on either a PC or Apple. When you’re finished, just send it back.

They offer really good long-term hire rates — from $5.95.

I checked on their site to see what the cost would be to hire a card from the 2nd to the 12th of May — $148 dollars:

70 quid. That’s either expensive or useful, depending on your viewpoint. Me? I think it’s useful. I’d probably end up spending a similar amount on hotel WiFi and not actually have the same level of utility that a data card would offer.

So $148 for ten days — $14/day, including shipping. I think quite a lot of executives could benefit from this. It’s definitely much better than dropping $100 a month for 24 months ;-)

(Thanks Mark!)
