Product on the beach shots = pain

I was out today in the midday sun, taking pictures of the various products we’ve been given to check out in desert island conditions. I wore a hat to keep the sun off and some long shorts, but I negated to think about my arms. They are, as a result of the prolonged exposure, not looking too good now. But the photos are pretty good.

I almost lost the MacBook Air to a freak wave. I had it perched precariously on the side of a set of stairs and it was nearly unseated by the momentum of a gentle yet thoroughly powerful wave (precariously, because it’s my own… I didn’t dare put the Dell Ultralight on the stairs).

I’ll be publishing a big gallery of images shortly. Meantime, here’s the Air:

… and a shot of the SMS Text News desert island (Conrad Rangali Island):

What was that sorry? You're permanently moving SMS Text News Towers there? and you want me to move over there too? Right! That's what I thought I heard! ;)

  • Patrickatsms

Love the card shot – very arty, but other than that I basically hate you for rubbing our noses in the fact that we're stuck at work. Grrr!

That's what I heard too, some kind of desert island podcast studio or something. ;)

I think I've just decided upon my next vacation location. Driving with the Guru – Maldives Style!

Oh yeah… it looks like a massive pain. I mean look at all that horrible sun ruining the pictures and the water? Well, it's just too clear and pleasant.

Now would you please stop messing about with your camera, go and sit in that chair and chill out for a bit!

  • AJ

    You are evil. Pure evil.

Wow. I was originally going to comment on the first shot… and how it should be your new banner or something…

But then I saw the 3rd picture and my jaw hit the floor…

    …Man I need a holiday.

As they say on Fark – pics or it didn't happen ;)

How about Diving With The Guru, Ricky? I'll demonstrate shortly. I got the
underwater thingy for the Flip and it's ace.

  • MarkW

And what did you take those cracking pix with? Surely not a Nokia… Or was it something really chunky with Nikon emblazoned across it…?

(oh, and sorry to hear about the sunburn – limited sympathy though, given where you are!)

I heard that someone wanted me to test blyk roaming in the Maldives? Roll on Thailand I say!!

It's a Canon EOS something or other, Mark. I needed something chunky to
look semi professional when I am lying in an awkward manner on the beach
photographing geeky things. You don't look so mad when holidaymakers walk
    by staring at you.

Ah – I thought they looked too good to be from a phone. Good choice of camera though, and you obviously know how to use it. I have three pro photographers in my immediate family and my pix still come out blurred. Grrr.

Don't tell anyone Mark, but I often keep mine on the automatic mode….
