Skimming phones

Anyone that follows rowing will have known Henley Royal took place recently. That said, anyone who follows the hat circuit will also have noticed this.

Heading down there this year I met up with a few old friends and was reminded of a crew mate’s antics from two years ago, which involved skimming his BlackBerry, and was wondering if anyone can beat his phone’s skimming ability?

The crewmate, who had taken time off work to attend the regatta and, when knocked out on the Wednesday, was asked to return. His BlackBerry was bleeping every 10 minutes with more work for him and, when drunk that night, he made the conscious decision to fling it into the Thames.

He managed to skim his BlackBerry with three bounces. Can any phone beat that please. Videos from you being frustrated can be sent, or better still, send phone casings to SMS Text News and we’ll do the experiment for you.

Right, I’m off to call Guiness and see if the records organisation will include 3 bounces.

Tempted to play… (I have a few old/broken phones – no jokes, thanks) …but what about the fish?

    I mean – isn't there a litter/pollution angle here?
