Here’s a question that needs a decent answer. I know we’ve got a heck of a lot of developers reading here on Mobile Industry Review so I’d welcome your perspective:
Is the UIQ platform still viable for developers to support?
Given that its split between UIQ2 and UIQ3 — there are only 20 devices, with the P800 starting things in 2002. With the upcoming S60 touch interface, will UIQ go the way of the dodo?
Or, is it dead already?

With the demise of the SE Paris, and few UIQ products nearing completion, UIQ is a dead end for commercial developers. So instead of Paris I have an iPhone 3G and an E71 now. I can only advise my customers to do the same.
I hope Nokia take on the hard working UIQ developers that have been laid off as S60 Touch looks nowhere near as good as UIQ 3.x

Nokia seems to be getting it finally and in my opinion is betting on S60 for now.
What I'm really hoping to see is something good coming out of the Trolltech acquisition. Being able to develop using something like Qtopia for multiple platforms at once would be uber-cool.
