WSJ, or the Wall Street Journal for those living in the 1998s, have sent out a wave of speculations today after publishing a report, according to which Google’s first Android Phone aka the HTC Dream will cost $199 on USA’s T-Mobile and will take the iPhone head on with its price tag.
The phone will feature heavy Google branding, and is expected to be officially announce on September 23, 2008. Of course, a 2-year long service contract will be involved, but since the phone is expected to take on the iPhone, the plans will be shaped up accordingly.
I'm surprised that they're going for such a hefty pricetag. I thought they might go a little lower to really sweeten the deal. I wonder what their break even point is after all the R&D.
It's certainly not aimed at normobs, is it? Not at that rate. But it's just the first. And as Mr Operator commented, it'll likely not-be-that-good. Here's hoping it's easily upgradable though…
