Just caught this on New Media Age:

Link: Iran to Filter ‘Immoral’ Messages on MMS
According to Iranian state television the Telecommunications Ministry will soon begin filtering out ‘immoral’ messages sent using the Multimedia Messaging Service on citizens’ mobile phones.
I wonder how they’re going to do that? I suppose you can use various skin-filter-checker pieces of software to hunt for skin tones. [...]

This is a piece of genius.
82ASK, the wickedly good get-an-answer-to-anything-by-text service, has extended the value of their service substantially. It was already excellent, but I can imagine, if you’re a bit lost or if you’re looking for a street or the like, a map would, actually, come in quite handy.
So, now you [...]
I just had a note in from the delightful Gaylene regarding the new LG Shine competition.
If you’re feeling in a bit of an exciting mood, I reckon you should give it a go. If only to get your mits on the Shine. It is a gorgeous handset. If you’re feeling uninspired, forward [...]
This is ultra neat. I was chatting, late last week, to Alfie, about this. I’m gratified that the folks at Channel4 are not just listening to Alfie and his colleagues at MoblogUK — but are actually implementing moblogging into a year long project. I could name quite a lot of media companies [...]
Continue ReadingThe geniuses over at moblog.co.uk have pulled another triumph out of the hat with the news that they’re powering the Comic Relief mobile blog. It’ll be exciting to see how the audience uses the facility.
Picture messaging is really very much second nature to a lot of people so I reckon a high [...]
The writing has been on the wall for a story like this for a lonnnnnnnnnng time. With millions of high quality cameraphones in circulation, no wonder.
If Brad Pitt does a London walkabout and comes into contact with, let’s say, 1,000 people — I’m willing to bet that, instead of being exposed to [...]

The Peninsula On-line: Qatar’s leading English Daily
Youngsters taking photographs of women in public places on the sly using camera-fitted mobile handsets and circulating them among friends through the multi-media messaging system (MMS) is disturbing the conservative Qatari society no end.
Women, especially when they are visiting shopping complexes, are cautious but despite this there are [...]
Here’s a kicker of a question from Alfie about MMS provisioning whilst roaming.
I’m wondering when a person travels over an international border with roaming enabled, and they switch over to the partner operator, whether they then have the correct settings to send mms….
I’d say no, but a couple of people I’ve spoken to have said [...]
I had an email in this morning asking if I knew anyone who could provide just one dedicated inbound MMS number for the UK.
The chap in question has asked if I can recommend multiple suppliers as per his client’s request. I knew off the top of my head that MX and iTagg [...]

I’m sat having a really nice steak, about a month ago, in Chez Gerard in Covent Garden. If you go on the right day, the service is impeccable, the steaks phenomenal, the fries cooked just right. Pick a wrong day however and it can be truly authentically French
So, sat enjoying this steak, [...]

Mashable published a link to the grainy and shaky mobile camera phone video of Saddam Hussein’s execution.
The person doing the filming wasn’t very good at keeping the camera steady… it’s all over the place. Whatever your perspective on the execution, the footage is compelling, particularly as the mass media here in the UK [...]
Link: Czechs send record number of SMS, MMS messages on Christmas Eve - Prague Daily Monitor
There were record numbers of text messages sent, however I’m more interested in the amount of MMS messages — I added them up based on the stats in the article and got 236,000. The most interesting point in the [...]

One of the girls at work just stopped by my desk to show me a picture of her hamster on her mobile phone.
