Wandering out of a blizzard is the latest version of the Android based mobile to appear, now in the colour of white from T-mobile’s online store.
As it’s been around in black now for a while and since they’re dealing with ‘negative’ press coverage all the time, why not produce a negative colour version.
The handset that [...]
This post is more of a question then an actual post. Those of you based in the UK will know that VAT is being lowered to 15% and your mobile service includes VAT.
Will the networks be recaulating bills in regards to the drop automatically from the 1st of December? I certaintly will be contacting by [...]
Hitting the stores this week is T-Mobile’s answer to 3’s wireless broadband mobile router, the mouth full that is the Mobile Broadband Share Dock
It works the same way as 3’s Huawei D100 Router, only with a less catchy name. The Share Dock plugs into their mobile broadband dongle, then enables surrounding devices to have ‘net [...]
Heh.
Got a moment?
I’ve got a Youtube video for you. Here’s the first screen:
If you’ve got a moment, watch the full vid…
Continue ReadingIf you missed the end of this week’s video featuring the G1 firmware updating over the air — and then our very own Dan Lane taking the battery out mid-update — here’s the full vid. The end of it corrupted rather horribly during the upload on Monday.
Over The Air (”OTA”) update of the T-Mobile [...]
Continue ReadingResearch firm iSuppli has it the G1 costs just $144 to build, where it’s selling for $179 in the states.
All the materials and components used just add up to a meagre amount, a lot lower than we would expect in terms of the profitability normally associated with handsets.
The HTC manufactured device, minus the software, research [...]
I had a note in from Rachel at The Internet Team this afternoon:

Dear Ewan
My partner recently got a T-Mobile USB HSDPA dongle for his Windows laptop.
I tried the Mac software for this on my Macbook (one of the latest models before they went metal again) but it keeps crashing.
I really want [...]
I’ve had my G1 for a week now. (You can see me walking through the setup here
Whilst I was quick to document the little things I liked about the G1, finding the stupidly annoying things has taken a bit longer.
Here we go.
1. Build quality. It’s a bit plastic. Don’t get me wrong, the [...]
Here we are trying to get James Whatley, one of the most influential Nokia-fans on the planet, to play with and understand the new T-Mobile G1.
I was tickled pink on Friday to be able to give him the test one we were sent over by T-Mobile. This is the first ever handset we’ve received [...]
Play.com are already showing the ‘HTC G1′ (that’s the T-Mobile G1 to the rest of us) available SIM-free, available from mid-November. The details and pictures look right, with a prominent HTC logo on the side in lieu of the T-Mobile one, but this seems a bit soon after the launch to be officially sanctioned…
At £599.99 [...]
This is by no means exhaustive - the information had to be extracted from reluctant shop staff over the phone today, but for those looking for cheaper or shorter tariffs with the G1 than the £40 per month option advertised here’s the best bits of what you need to know as promised:
Combi 25 (150 mins [...]
If you look at T-Mobile’s website or their marketing material you’d think the G1 was only available as a free phone on a choice of two £40 per month (over 18 months) contracts.
However, it’s not… and if you ask in-store there’s a range of tariffs available including a number of 12 month ones. For instance, [...]
Continue ReadingI’ve had my G1 for a few days now and here the things I’m really enjoying:
1. It all just works. If you’re a regular user of Google — Gmail or Google Apps — this is a dream operating system. The handset requires a Google account to get setup. After verifying your account, [...]
Our second executive opinion on the T-Mobile G1 launch is from Brad Rees, the Managing Director of Mediacells (the leading independent supplier of fact-based market insight in the mobile arena).
For those who haven’t met Brad, he’s an former journalist, who began his career with Reuters, before migrating to popular Fleet Street brands for United News [...]
That’s the subject of the email I got last night from reader, Kai. It wasn’t all sweetness and light with the G1 launch yesterday, then.
I know four people who got one yesterday without a hitch. But Kai was definitely not having a good day — he went on to list out his experiences [...]
Here we go then.
Having purchased the G1, I headed off to One Alfred Place to get a bit of piece and quiet to take some photos of the device, set it up and have a play.
And I’m very, very impressed.
Unboxing was straight forward — although I found the device battery inside the protective case. [...]
So I’m standing filming, right?
I’m watching the organised melee and I’m seeing folk walking out the door with their new G1s — all setup and ready to rock (the device has a full charge when you take it out the box. Smart.
There was a small lull in store traffic just about 9am — I [...]
I’m getting an avalanche of mail about the G1 so here’s the gallery of photos I took as I switched the device on.
I’ll go through and describe the process in just a moment on another post.
I was up at half five this morning. Half past FIVE! That’s how dedicated we are here at Mobile Industry Review.
I grabbed the cameras, jumped into the car and sped into London as fast as possible. I’m not normally a native of the 6am shift — so I was rather surprised to [...]
Anna and Will from NixonMcInnes are working with T-Mobile UK to bring them into the 21st Century.
And it’s a good job they are.
For a long time, T-Mobile have been the proverbial arse-in-the-corner, ignoring the blogosphere because it’s, well, unknown.. and filled with.. er… the great unwashed…
For any organisation accustomed to broadcasting to customers and potential [...]
Oh yes…
Here’s hoping that T-Mobile have got their online systems working correctly and they don’t do a ‘Carphone Warehouse’ or an ‘o2′ and fall over dramatically.
In case you’re thinking of ordering, this is the link you need tomorrow from 9am.
And if you’d like a reminder about the device itself, here’s the Man From T-Mobile UK [...]
I’m pleased to see that T-Mobile UK have got-wit-the-programme and launched online sales support:
As for how good it is… well I’ll give it a go shortly and see…

Every time I read something new about the G1 I want one even more… did you know it does Growl-like notifications?!
G1 excitement is building big time and we’ll be bringing you a first look at the retail version of the device toward the end of this [...]
It’s raining updates for the users of T-Mobile G1. While most of us are yet to lay our hands on the first Android phone, the lucky few who went ahead and bought it already have had to update the build OTA.
While the popular word is that the build number is RC28, one reader over at [...]
A brilliant piece of news from Will at Sharpcards. I’ve been trying to get him on the podcast (or the MIR Show itself) for a while but he’s been rather busy. No wonder.
Sharpcards have a wicked model. They actually embed the functionality to send happy birthday greetings (for example) directly into operator-branded [...]
